General

Archimedean Screw Conveyors are an essential part of many conveying and storage systems. Being simple and robust in design and easily maintained, screw conveyors provide a low cost, versatile conveying capability with many bulk solids handling applications in manufacturing and processing factories. Guttridge U-trough screw conveyors and tubular screw conveyors have been continuously developed over many years and are available with a wide range of options to suit every requirement. The well proven, modular design ensures easy assembly, installation and maintenance. It also allows any configuration to be easily and quickly built up to suit a customer's exact requirements in both mild steel (painted or galvanised) and stainless steel.

Specification

In general most free flowing powders, grains and pellets as well as many materials with poor flow characteristics can be successfully conveyed with a screw conveyor. The rate at which material is conveyed can be fairly accurately controlled by varying the screw conveyor flight design, speed and percentage loading - useful for feeding process machinery at a pre-determined rate for example. Lengths up to 50m can be accommodated with the use of intermediate hanger bearings and the materials of construction can be varied to suit the material being conveyed and site conditions. The following sketches illustrate some of the ways in which the Archimedean screw flighting can be tailored to suit specific applications.
