General
Tubular screw conveyors are widely used in many conveying and storage systems, for outdoorapplications, where an inclined flight is required and/or to achieve high throughput efficiency. Enclosing the screw in an outer shell, not only protects the material being handled but also prevents fall back during conveying, even up relatively steep inclines. Tubular screw conveyors are also valued for sterile applications or where material containment is an issue and are widely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
Guttridge tubular screw conveyors have been developed continuously over many years and are easily tailored to suit individual requirements. The proven, modular design ensures easy assembly, installation and maintenance. For general industrial applications Guttridge offer tubular screw conveyors in both mild steel (painted or galvanised) and stainless steel to suit material handling requirements and the site environment. A separate range of crevice-free stainless steel conveyors meets the exacting requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Specification
In general most free flowing powders, grains and pellets as well as many materials with poor flow characteristics can be successfully conveyed with a tubular screw conveyor. Material flow rate is controlled by varying the screw conveyor flight design, speed and percentage loading, with lengths up to 50m accommodated through the use of intermediate hanger bearings.
The following drop downs illustrate some of the ways in which U-trough screw conveyor flighting can be tailored to suit specific applications.
