Manufacturers can now test the effectiveness of their weighing systems over the internet thanks to a new risk check service.

Created by Mettler Toledo, a leading manufacturer of precision instruments, the Good Weighing Practice (GWP) service allows manufacturers to assess the risk of weighing a given balance.

Professionals in quality management across the pharmaceutical, chemical and food and beverage industries can access the GWP by answering a series of eight questions over the internet.

Its creators hope the service will enhance the performance and quality of weighing instruments and their processes.

Martin Huber, Ph.D. and marketing manager for laboratory balances at Mettler Toledo, said: "The Risk Check offers the possibility to analyse and improve the quality management of weighing processes. It is sort of a Mock Audit and serves as a rehearsal for the actual audit."

Based on international quality guidelines the risk check service works on a simple barometer indicator.

If the check shows green than the weighing system is operating effectively, However, if it shows red then the equipment used is returning a negative result and can potentially be unsafe.

It is hoped the service will help to minimise costs and allow manufacturers to carry out their operations safely and effectively.ADNFCR-2798-ID-19581488-ADNFCR
