A Manufacturing firm has found that using dry ice cleaning for its heavy-duty weighing systems has helped to save valuable time.
Food packaging firm Turner PPL, who supply citrus foods to customers such as Tesco, have been using technology from Polar Intelligent Cleaning Solutions (Polar ICS) with much success.
The company said it has reduced the time it takes to fully clean its weighing systems, which include stainless steel containers and belt conveyors, by up to 60 per cent, reports Materials World Handling Magazine.
Antony Taylor, head of operations at Turners PPL, said: "We operate the 11 machines on a 24/7 basis so cleaning and maintaining the machines is critical to what we do here.
"In terms of food hygiene and safety, cleaning the machines on a regular basis is just as important."
Failure to clean the machines properly can result in the heavy duty conveyors grinding to a halt, which can have a knock-on effect through the manufacturing process.
Dry ice cleaning works through blasting materials with compressed particles of ice, which vaporise on contact lifting dirt particles with them.
