Investing in some quality controls for industrial machinery such as conveyors could help to save money and energy emissions, says report.

According to the Control Engineer Europe (CEE) most modern conveyor machines have relatively "sophisticated" control systems that can simply be updated to minimise energy consumption.

Technology such as motion sensors can help to power down conveyors that have been left running.

Heavy duty conveyors that are left unnecessarily switched on can emit masses of wasted energy and are costly for companies to run.

However, manufacturers could eliminate long-term costs by investing in short-term measures, say CEE.

"Extra equipment needed often pays back in energy saving in just a few months."

Companies who have incorporated the industry recognised Building Management System to implement tighter controls have on average seen a 15 to 20 per cent saving on energy bills.

With the UK only just rearing its head from the recession, many firms may benefit from a few cost-saving techniques.ADNFCR-2798-ID-19592728-ADNFCR
