Proposals for an £8 million biomass heat and power plant in Scotland have been welcomed by suppliers who have formed a new partnership in anticipation.

Puffin Pellets and Insch-based waste-wood recycling firm Harpers have joined forces to become a single unit under the new name of Boyndie Biomass Power in a bid to better position itself as part of the new development.

According to a report in the Press and Journal, the proposed development would use waste wood, including wood chips from Puffin Pellets, as fuel to produce combustion gas.

This gas would then supply enough electricity to power 2,500 properties in Scotland as well as providing power to nearby Puffin Pellets, reducing its dependence on fossil fuels.

If the power plant is to open, Boyndie Biomass Power may require increased levels of machinery suitable for the renewable energy market.

Big bag dischargers and heavy-duty bins, hoppers and en-masse conveyors are all vital pieces of equipment involved in the transportation, handling and processing of wood waste.

Local councillors are due to consider the scheme next week. It is widely expected the proposals will be passed, subject to conditions regarding air pollution and noise restrictions.ADNFCR-2798-ID-19613778-ADNFCR
