The success of several key recycling initiatives could push the demand for bulk material handling equipment if they are rolled out nationwide.

Schemes such as Envac, the UK’s first underground waste collection system which was developed beneath a housing complex in Wembley, have been heralded a huge success, according to the Telegraph.

It said the scheme, which literally "sucks" rubbish straight from a chute in peoples’ homes to a moving facility underground, was making it easy for people to go green.

Similar projects have been started in other areas of the country and as the UK looks to reduce its municipal waste levels the demand for special machinery to handle waste discharge could prove a boost to equipment manufacturers.

Flexible bulk storage units and mobile loaders allow for the easy transportation of waste produce, while blenders, sieves and mixers can sort the various components that are produced from waste management.

Last month the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority announced plans for a £1.5 million household waste recycling centre in Knowsley, which has been given the green light by local planning authorities.

Similar projects are expected to be rolled out across the UK over the coming years as waste produce is processed, rejuvenated and sent down conveyor belts rather than being sent to landfill.ADNFCR-2798-ID-19618838-ADNFCR
