The booming biofuels market is resulting in an increased need for grain growers and seed processing facilities, a new report suggests.

According to Australian news provider ABC, bioenergy companies are frequently meeting with grain growers to see if they can increase their productivity, a trend that has been echoed in the UK.

The Energy Technology Institute is currently administering a study to determine whether Britain’s disused land space could be used to harvest bio crops after it predicted up to one-tenth of moor land, hill sides and other sites could be suitable hosts.

However, the expansion of the biofuels sector does not only require more grain to fuel the conversion process, it will also depend on specialist handling machinery being readily available to cope with the growth of the industry.

Equipment such as heavy-duty conveyors, en-masse elevators and bucket elevators are widely used within the grain handling production process.

Robert Gooden, from Melbourne-based Smorgon Fuels, told the news provider that the future of the biofuel industry is completely dependent on the supply of feedstock, something that nations worldwide are competing to address, with the UK hoping to position itself as a global leader.ADNFCR-2798-ID-19647983-ADNFCR
