Fresh off the success seen by a north-east biofuels plant this year, farmers and industry insiders are being invited to take a look at the future of the fuel.
Agrovista UK, an agronomy and crop protection specialist, will be hosting a series of workshops this June in support of the Regional Strategy for Transport Biofuels and Northeast Biofuels, according to Farming UK.
If the sessions prove a hit this could spur more UK farmers to enter the biocrops market, subsequently increasing the demand for handling equipment such as steel conveyors, chain and flight conveyors and bucket elevators.
Attendees will be taken around various sites belonging to the Grower Network project, which was set up in 2008 to examine the emerging North East bioethanol and biodiesel market.
Wheat for the project is grown at a ten-hectare site at Eryholme near Darlington with additional oilseed rape facilities at Cockle Park, Northumberland and Askham Bryan near York.
Chris Glover, Agrovista’s business projects manager, told the news provider: "As the biofuel industry on Teesside is gathering pace, the Eryholme trials are instrumental in showing farmers the most effective ways of satisfying demand for this emerging market."
