A Britsih biodiesel plant has signed an agreement with petrol giant BP Oil to boost its export capacity.
Four Rivers BioFuels, the UK subsidiary of Four Rivers BioEnergy, has entered an initial deal of five years during which it will produce 60,000 tonnes of the blended biodiesel for BP.
In order to cope with the increase in demand, which will see overall production jump from the current 77,000 tonnes per annum to 100,000 over the next seven months, Four Rivers revealed its intention to modernise and expand its existing facilities.
In addition, the contract will require the firm to purchase increased supplies of feedstock – used to produce biodiesel – which could be good news to anyone in the grain handling industry.
The BP deal therefore could have an accumulative effect on the sale of machinery such as heavy-duty conveyors and chain conveyors.
Stephen Padgett, the company’s chief executive in the UK, said the deal went a long way in helping Britain realise its biofuel and renewable energy potential.
