Rapeseed harvesting at one of the world’s largest providers of agricultural commodities is on-track despite the longer and colder than usual winter.

Landkom, which is based in the Ukraine and supplies seed on an international level, reported that its winter crop audit had surpassed expectations.

It revealed that 89 per cent of the rapeseed was estimated to be in either good or excellent condition.

In addition, nine per cent was reported as being of average condition and just two per cent of all crop was lost.

These statistics show that losses over the winter have been well within acceptable limits.

As the pound remains devalued against other currencies, British based machinery specialists, who provide milling equipment such as flexible screw conveyors to rapeseed producers, could witness a demand for the service from companies such as Landkom.

Commenting on the figures, chief executive Vitaliy Skotsyk said that the firm was expecting to see a potential upside in pricing over the coming months.

This is due to other areas of the Ukraine, which is one of the world’s largest producers of rapeseed, witnessing substantial loss of crop.
