A recycling plant in Lincolnshire is witnessing a boom in business, which could result in the site bringing in new conveyors to cope with mass production.

AWS Eco Plastics has secured a contract with the Waste Recycling Group (WRG) to process all plastic bottles from WRG’s Carnaby and Luton sites, Plastics and Rubber Weekly reports.

The deal will see a flurry of activity at AWS’s Lincolnshire site as it acts to separate thousands of plastic bottles by colour and polymer.

Using in-house systems, the bottles will be stripped of the PET element, which will be converted into plastic pellets capable of being used to manufacture new bottles.

AWS commercial director Duncan Oakes told the news provider that the firm was encouraged by the high number of deals they had secured this year, evidence that there is an increased demand for waste handling nationwide.

"This is a further positive step towards helping achieve the recently announced recycling targets set by DEFRA, driving the UK recycling rates to levels comparable with other European countries," he commented.
