With more and more people looking to lower their carbon footprint, the UK oil extraction industry could see a growth in business.
According to the Ecologist, opting for British produced supplies like rapeseed can be a significantly more environmentally-savvy solution that shipping in alternatives such as olive oil from abroad.
It pleads with British customers to consider home-grown rapeseed oil this summer, revealing that it has a magnitude of uses and can be used for cooking at high heat.
"There’s not much you can’t do with this oil – use it instead of butter in desserts, in dressings and stir fries," comments the news provider.
In addition to showing support for their national industries, consumers opting for British-soured rapeseed oil may find that the product, low in saturated fat, brings added health benefits.
June Davison, a cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, recently revealed that rapeseed oil, like olive oil, can reduce inflammation in the body, cutting the risk of heart disease and type-2 diabetes.
