The first ever Loch Ness Whisky Festival is due to get underway this weekend and organisers hope that it may lead to a glass full of business for the UK distillery sector.
Set against the regal backdrop of Urquhart Castle, the two day event, which will start tomorrow (May 14th), will see a number of whisky-related activities taking place, the Press and Journal reports.
Visitors to the festival are invited to the award-winning Fiddler’s Restaurant and Whisky Bar in Drumnadrochit where they can sample brands such as Talisker, Balblair, Glen Ord and Tomatin.
There is also the opportunity for people to attend whisky seminars and guided tours exploring the Highland’s rich whisky heritage.
In addition, all profits from the event will go to the much-needed nationwide sea rescue charity, the RNLI.
Britain’s malt distillery industry is going from strength-to-strength as the demand for home-produced goods soars.
