Managers at McCambridge Group, which makes well known products such as Soreen malt loaf, have switched on the factory lights at the firm’s new plant.
Relocating from its existing premises in Ireland, the company has moved into a 15,000 sq ft facility in the heart of Blackburn, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
The new processing site features all the latest cake-making and processing facilities such as weighing systems, mobile loading hoppers and metering screw feeders.
Commenting on the venture, Mark Carling, sales director at Hurstwood, which sealed the deal on behalf of McCambridge Group, told the news provider of his optimism.
"The site is modern and spacious, ideal for a leading food manufacturer like McCambridge to carry out mass production," he remarked.
"Its prime location means the firm makes delivery easier, with such close access to the motorway network."
The company’s future looks set to be even more fruitful as the UK’s baking sector goes from strength-to-strength, with national chain Greggs last week posting year-on-year sales rises of 0.6 per cent.
