A Scottish brewery is today celebrating after successfully securing funding that will allow it to develop its own bottling plant.

Cairngorm Brewery, an Aviemore-based firm, presently uses a site in England to bottle its produce but having secured more than £250,000 from the Highlands and Islands Enterprise, now hopes to move operations across the border.

Once up and running, the new bottling facility, which is scheduled for an end-of-year completion, will feature all the relevant machinery such as conveyors and belt conveyors.

Managing director Samantha Faircliff commented: "Rising demand has outstripped the capacity of our small-scale bottle filling machine so we have to send the beer south to be bottled in the quantities we require. We are also running out of space."

With an annual turnover of more than £1 million, the independent brewery seems to be garnering a wealth of business, something that looks likely to remain on tap.
