A British construction firm has purchased Warwickshire’s largest recycling plant in a deal that could be worth as much as £7 million.

Kier paid an initial down payment of £2 million to purchase Pure Recycling, with a view to provide an additional £5 million when the transaction is complete.

Its acquisition will create one of the UK’s biggest waste handling firms and will allow it to significantly increase the borough’s recycling capacity.

If Kier decides to update the waste processing site it may require all the up-to-the-minute machinery such as screw conveyors and chain conveyors.

Paul Sheffield, the company’s chief executive, commented: "We are delighted with the acquisitions which strengthen Kier’s waste management and recycling business.

"It will leave the group well placed to take advantage of future market growth in the sector."
