Britain is seeing a revival of its real ale production, which is creating booming businesses for breweries and malting specialists.
According to a recent article in the Daily Mail, there are now more than 700 breweries in the UK, with 71 new firms starting up during 2009 alone.
It attributes the rising introduction of new facilities to an increase in demand for real ale from consumers, with many now considering it to be Britain’s tipple of choice.
According to the news provider, the driving force behind the nation’s brewery success is ‘small breweries’ relief’ scheme, also known as Progressive Beer Duty, which was introduced by Gordon Brown in 2002.
It gives brewing firms which produce less than 60,000 hectolitres of beer a year with a tax break, leaving them extra capital to purchase machinery such as conveyors.
With a higher market presence per head of the population than anywhere in the world, the UK’s brewing specialists are emerging as a force to be reckoned with.
Typical Guttridge machinery used by in the malting and brewing industries includes; conveyors – screw conveyors – chain conveyors – belt conveyors
