The future of a family-run bakery could be rising fast as a leading retail guru steps in to turn around its fortunes.
As part of the BBC series Mary Queen of Shops, commercial wizard Mary Portas has stepped in to help get Maher & Sons Bakery back on track, Bakery Info reports.
The London-based bakery has been in business for over 36 years, providing customers with breads, cakes, sandwiches and other food products.
It also boasts its own cafe – Angela’s –situated on Durham Road, London, which was a major focus for the TV show.
While the London-based baker has been clambering for custom, other baking firms nationwide have seen business booming.
Bolton-based Warburton’s yesterday (June 1st) posted a year-on-year sales hike of six per cent for the year ending September 2009, taking total revenues to £510.8 million.
