A new state-of-the-art recycling and waste depot has opened in Devon, highlighting the growth of the UK recycling industry.
The £1.5 million complex has been built as part of SITA UK’s waste management contract with East Devon District Council, reports letsrecycle.com.
The announcement comes as a further boost to the recycling industry which is currently celebrating National Recycle Week, a scheme designed to encourage more Britons to recycle.
Paul Deakin, waste and recycling manager at East Devon, claimed the new site will help improve efficiency.
He told the website: "We used to have two separate depots, with our residual waste operated out of Honiton.
"We have now brought the two functions together and it will make management of the overall waste contract all the much better it will make it easier."
The new site will help facilitate the changed waste and recycling collection service in the area, which has switched from weekly to fortnightly.
