Greene King has announced it will open 200 more pub restaurant outlets over the next five years.
The UK brewer hopes to increase its current 888-strong network of managed pubs to 1,100 by 2015.
In further good news for the brewing industry, the firm’s revenues were up three per cent to £984.1 million.
The move could increase demand for machinery as beer production increases.
Hugh-Guy Lorriman, analyst at investment banking firm Seymour Pierce, claimed Greene King is well-positioned to expand.
He said: “Greene King is now looking like a value play and yet it has some of the best returns in the industry and the strongest balance sheet of the larger players.”
The firm, which reported brewing volumes had also increased by 3.6 per cent, aims to invest heavily in brands such as Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Scotland’s Belhaven Best.
