Cyclamax will construct a new waste-to-energy plant in East London after receiving planning permission for the development.
Once operational, the plant will turn 120,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste into renewable energy each year.
The facility is expected to provide energy to other businesses in the Sustainable Industries Park where the plant will be based.
It will also be able to provide electricity to around half of the houses in Barking and Dagenham.
Tony Watkins, managing director at Cyclamax, said: “There is a strong appetite for low carbon energy generation, providing energy for local people and businesses.
“It was important for us that one of our first plants be located on a park of the quality and exemplar sustainability ambitions of the London Sustainable Industries Park.”
Following the plants completion in 2013, there will be an increased demand for recycling machinery in the region.
Typical Guttridge equipment used in the recycling industry includes: conveyors – screw conveyors – chain conveyors – belt conveyors
