The number of pubs entering insolvency has significantly dropped, according to a new report.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has revealed that insolvency rates have fallen by a third in the second quarter of 2010 compared to the final three months of 2009.
At the end of last year, 88 pub operators filed for insolvency but just sixty pubs were forced to do so in the past three months.
David Chubb, a PwC partner, claimed the outlook is looking better for pubs although trading may still be difficult for a period.
He said: “Pub company insolvency rates have fallen from where we were a year ago but trading remains difficult and further failures are expected as lenders consolidate their positions.”
The upturn in the pub sector will be welcomed by the brewing industry as production will start to increase.
