Scottish ingredient manufacturer Macphie of Glenbervie has launched its first consumer brand as it aims to double turnover within 10 years.

The firm will target its DeviliShh-branded puddings, fruit coulis and sweet sauces at consumers who are entertaining at home during the recession.

The move could boost food production and demand for machinery.

Macphie group commercial director Ronnie Leggett, said: “DeviliShh is an exciting example of product and brand innovation taking us into the consumer brands arena for the first time.

“Celebrity chefs and TV shows like Come Dine With Me have broadened many people’s horizons and encouraged them to experiment in the kitchen.”

DeviliShh puddings, including panna cotta and creme caramel, are aimed at those who are keen to cook but lack the expertise to do so.

Research firm Mintel found 30 per cent of consumers do not have the skill to make desserts themselves.ADNFCR-2798-ID-800001777-ADNFCR
