The baking industry has been boosted by the opening of a new retailer which will stock freshly baked goods.
Union Market promises to combine the individuality of a farmers’ market with the convenience of a supermarket, reports bakeryinfo.co.uk.
The first store opened at Fulham Broadway underground station this month and customers are able to buy a range of products from London bakeries the Bread Factory and the Flour Station.
Tom Molnar, trading director at The Bread Factory, claimed the deal could prove to be a lucrative venture for the firm.
He told the news provider: “There’s a huge appetite for good food out there and it says something about how people view freshly baked bread that they have put their bakery display right at the front of the shop.”
The Flour Station was initially set up in the kitchen of the Jamie Oliver restaurant Fifteen, while The Bread Factory has been operating for nearly 20 years.
