on’s brewery has reported a growth in sales following Barack Obama’s endorsement for the firm’s ale.

The US president was presented with a bottle of Martston’s Hobgoblin ale by David Cameron in June following England’s meeting with America during the World Cup.

Mr Obama claimed the drink was “excellent” and his declaration has helped increase sales significantly, reports expressandstar.com.

Ralph Findlay, Marston’s chief executive, claimed all of the firm’s brands benefited from the president’s endorsement.

He told the news provider: “It created huge interest in Hobgoblin, and this has filtered down to our other beers, including both Banks’ mild and bitter, and Marston’s Pedigree.

“Hobgoblin has certainly seen a big surge in sales, but all our beers are doing well, both take-home and draught.”

The rising production of Marston’s ales could lead to an increased demand for brewing machinery.
