Luxury food firm Lewis & Cooper is set to increase production after securing a contract with Selfridges.
The Yorkshire-based company will supply its handmade fruit cakes to stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester from October.
Lewis & Cooper managed to seal the deal after its range of products was praised by journalists at Selfridges’ Christmas press day.
Linda Walters, Lewis & Cooper’s sales development manager, said: “I’m very proud that such a prestigious retailer as Selfridges has recognised the quality of our made-in-Yorkshire cakes.”
The firm, which has stores in Northallerton and Yarm-on-Tees, could require more machinery to cope with the increased demand for its products.
It already distributes its own-brand goods to a range of customers across the country, including Harvey Nichols, English Heritage, The National Trust and Lakeland.
Selfridges unveiled its Christmas department on August 2nd this year.
