uld profit from the roll-out of anaerobic digestion (AD) plants across the UK, it has been claimed.
Green energy specialist Farmgen is aiming to invest £30 million in a project which would create numerous AD facilities.
Simon Rigby, director of Farmgen, claimed the development would help provide another revenue stream for farmers.
He told the Yorkshire Post: "It's a real lifeline for farmers and a big help for the UK economy. It gives farmers long term stability."
The company plans to build fifty plants in Yorkshire alone due to its abundance of large farms and flat land.
"I would expect to be building the first one in Yorkshire late next year. Yorkshire figures very highly in our plans," he added.
The first phase of construction has been completed at an AD plant in Lancashire, with crops grown across the Fylde region of the county to be burned at the facility. .
