A farmer trainee scheme in Cumbria is set to go ahead after receiving funding from the Prince of Wales.
Not-for-profit organisation Cumbria Farmer Network is set to run the Fell Farming Trainee scheme having received financial backing from the Prince's Countryside Fund.
Participants of the programme will gain practical work experience on up to six different hill farms and receive an apprentice wage.
Paul Harper, the Farmer Network's managing director, claimed the organisation aim to get people into agriculture from a young age to ensure they can have a future in the industry.
He said: "We're trying to get new blood as well as extra pairs of hands onto these hill farms to help maintain the landscape and have benefits for the wider community in the uplands as well as a direct effect on the social fabric of these areas."
