Residents in Scotland have given their backing to a new proposed recycling plant at Inverness Harbour.
Perthshire-based developers Shore Energy said they received a huge amount of positive feedback for the recycling plant, which represents a £20 million investment in the area, reports the Aberdeen Press and Journal.
Around three-quarters (73 per cent) of people who attended an exhibition on the plant at Caledonian Thistle stadium said they completely support the development, while 24 per cent said they support it to some extent. Just three per cent said they oppose the plans.
Jon Garvey, project director at Shore Energy, said the results of the consultation are "very encouraging".
Waste from the Highland region would be taken from landfill sites, sorted and recycled with biodegradable material converted into a biomass fibre, which would be transported by ship to be converted into fuel.
The plant is expected to help reduce the amount of material sent to landfill sites and reduce the number of trucks on the road.
