UK manufacturing is growing at the fastest rate in 16 years, according to the Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
The body's monthly index rose to 58 in November marking a 2.4 point increase from 55.6 in October, which was well ahead of expectations.
This marked the 16th consecutive month that the index has been above 50, which is the mark of an expanding economy.
Employment also rose at the quickest rate since 1992 and companies' order books looked strong, with new orders rising at the fastest pace since April.
Commenting on the data, Lee Hopley, chief economist at the manufacturers' organisation EEF, said that manufacturing recovery is in "good shape".
"Companies will be heartened that activity in the major eurozone economies suggests confidence exports will hold up in the short term, but there will be concerns about inflation building with price pressures no longer contained to a limited number of sectors," she added.
