Export confidence continued to grow in November, according to new figures.
Travelex’s Confidence Index found that confidence rose by eight points among both exporters and importers in November.
Some 70 per cent said they were positive about current trade conditions, with the newfound confidence being attributed to third quarter trading figures being their strongest since the recession.
In addition, nearly nine in ten (85 per cent) of importers and exporters believe that growth will be sustained despite the spending cuts.
This is a rise of almost a fifth (19 per cent) on October’s index measure.
The new data strengthens the current forecast from the Office for Budget Responsibility, which has predicted that trade will contribute 0.7 per cent to the growth of the UK economy up until 2015.
David Sear, global managing director at Travelex Global Business Payments, said that the government should not become complacent about this success.
He commented: "We urge the government to continue their vital trade overseas missions and support for exporting businesses through innovation and resource, to ensure that growth in the UK export sector is not jeopardised in 2011."
