Exports to EU member states went up to £12.8 billion in October, according to new figures.
HM Revenue & Customs reported that the total value of trade-in-goods increased by 8.5 per cent on the previous month.
In comparison, the year-on-year increase was 11.5 per cent, following October 2009's figure of £11.5 billion.
Figures for 2010 up to September reveal that the total value of trade-in-goods exported from the UK was £103.3 billion.
However, the new data means that this calculation has been upwardly revised by £143.6 million.
A report published earlier this week by the CBI confirmed that manufacturers were seeing their order books improve.
According to the organisation's industrial trends survey, there was a positive balance of four per cent more surveyors claiming a higher number of orders.
In particular, foreign orders were up indicating that an export-led recovery has finally come around after much speculation.
This could mean that firms should look to invest in new equipment to capture a bigger share of export markets.
