A sustainable energy park worth £450 million is to be built in Peterborough.

It will be the first project of its nature in the UK, following a deal between the renewable energy arm of Green Energy Parks (GEP) and the
construction company KNM Group Berhad, the Peterborough Evening Telegraph has reported.

The site will feature a renewable energy-from-waste plant, as well as manufacturing by-products.

According to GEP, there will be three types of processes used, including an advanced mechanical recycling facility, a gasifer and a plasma chamber.

The renewable energy that is created will be enough to power 600,000 homes, it is claimed.

In an interview with the paper, KNM Group's executive chairman Lee Swee Eng said: "This is a ground-breaking project which will mark an important
development in the way that waste is dealt with in the UK."

According to the company, some 300 construction jobs will be generated by the site, while 109 professional and skilled positions will also be created.ADNFCR-2798-ID-800312286-ADNFCR
