Manufacturing firms are experiencing a strong recovery from the economic crisis, according to the latest research.

The British Chambers of Commerce's new Quarterly Economic Survey finds that manufacturing firms experienced a marked increase in sales and orders during the fourth quarter of 2010.

Overseas orders saw a particular boost, reaching their strongest levels since the final quarter of 1994.

In addition, manufacturing firms are expanding their workforces, with more staff manner hoppers and conveyors across the nation.

However, the BCI warns that poor growth in the services sector is holding up the economic recovering and could hamper the drive of the manufacturing sector.

This means that the UK economy as a whole continues to expand, but despite the best efforts of manufacturing firms, the growth rate has slowed.

The BCC recently warned that any rise in interest rates could seriously harm manufacturing firms and other companies as they strive to continue their economic recoveries.
