The UK and Danish governments have underlined their commitment to collaborate on future green energy projects.
A commitment to a combined focus on a range of projects, from research to infrastructure development, has been outlined by UK energy secretary Chris Huhne and Denmark's energy minister Dr Lykke Friis.
In a joint statement, the ministers underlined the economic requirements for both countries to work together towards combined goals.
They said: "Both our countries are working on radical and transformative plans to decarbonise our energy supplies and support new green innovation.
"And we're working together on initiatives such as the North Seas Offshore grid and the development of smart grid technology, while our businesses are driving forward ambitious offshore wind development."
Earlier this month, Solvert UK's Kris Wadrop told North East Business that the UK's energy-from-waste model is transferrable to other countries, particularly in regions with a high population density.
