The independent brewing industry is thriving, a new report claims, despite Brits drinking less beer overall.
A survey conducted by Asda found that while the UK beer and lager market has slumped by four per cent in the last year, independent brewers have every reason to be confident, the Western Mail reports.
Demand for real ales made by local brewers has risen by nine per cent in the last 12 months, the study showed.
The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) is very good news for independent brewers, who could be encouraged to expand by the rising demand for local ales.
However, SIBA chief executive Julian Grocock insists that the government still needs to step in to stop prohibitive taxation putting too many pubs out of business.
Similar calls were made earlier this week by the British Beer and Pub Association, which claimed that the UK brewing industry needs a change in taxation laws in order to see significant growth.
Typical Guttridge equipment used in the brewing industry includes:
Conveyors – screw conveyors – chain conveyors – belt conveyors
