ive growth in the brewing industry has prompted one firm to invest in new equipment to expand its operation.
Peerless Brewing Company has seen its turnover surge 30 per cent ahead of its targets as independent brewers continue to thrive, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.
The Wirral-based company now plans to expand its production capacity by 40 per cent, with the help of investment from Barclays and the Manufacturing Advisory Service.
Announcing the introduction of two new ales, managing director Steve Briscoe told the publication: "Demand for Peerless beers continues to grow, both in our Wirral heartland and across the region.
"The new brands will help us to develop further and benefit from our investment."
Data released last week by the Society of Independent Brewers revealed that demand for independently-brewed beer has risen by nine per cent in the last 12 months, despite overall beer sales falling over the same period.
