Firms working in the biomass industry look set to be at the heart of a renewable energy drive in Wales.
The Finnish ambassador to the UK Pekka Huhtaniemi has been holding meetings with Welsh executives and members of the Welsh Assembly Government on the issue of renewable energy, the Western Mail reports.
Finland has an established biomass industry, so Welsh officials are looking to tap into this expertise to drive the Welsh renewable sector.
Mr Huhtaniemi also believes this partnership will be beneficial for Finland, representing the best chance for Finnish firms to do business in Wales.
He told the publication: "Wales has its Renewable Heating Initiative which favours the use of biomass as a source of energy.
"This is where the Finns have experience, capacity and skills."
The biomass industry could however be impacted by an investigation from Hampshire MEP Keith Taylor, who wants to firmly establish whether biomass can be considered "green fuel".
Typical Guttridge equipment used in the biomass industry includes:
Conveyors – screw conveyors – chain conveyors – belt conveyors
