Recycling firms in the Barnsley area are set to benefit from an increase in kerbside collections from the local council.
It has been announced that the borough council will now be collecting plastic bottles from resident's homes, the Star reports.
Residents can already have waste glass and cans collected, but the region has been lagging behind somewhat with its plastics programme.
However, after a successful pilot scheme that saw recycling levels increase by 11 per cent and a £75,000 investment from the local authority, plastic bottles will now also be accepted.
The new collections will start in the west of the borough from tomorrow, but it will be rolled out across the rest of the region by the end of September, the publication notes.
This follows news that North Lincolnshire Council has decided to offer kerbside collections for electrical goods, which it hopes will divert around 1,000 tonnes of waste from landfill sites to waste recycling firms.
