Plans for a new recycling plant in Shropshire have been approved by the local authority.
Around 300 objections had been raised about converting an old sheet-metal warehouse in Bridgnorth into a waste management plant, but the council has decided that it is the only suitable site for the much-needed facility, the BBC reports.
The company that submitted the planning application, Veolia Environmental Services, will now look to obtain an environmental permit and an operator licence.
Donald McPhail, the firm's managing director, said the company will be working closely with local residents to ease their concerns and work out a way of operating that suits all parties.
"We don't want to be bad neighbours, we want to be good neighbours," he told the news provider.
This follows news that the Presteigne and Norton Zero Waste initiative has been granted another year of funding from the Welsh Assembly Government, after showing promising initial results.
