The biggest firms in the animal feed manufacturing industry will be sending representatives to a symposium in Kentucky next month.
All the major animal feed companies will be heading to the US for Alltech's 27th International Animal Health and Nutrition Symposium from May 22nd to the 25th, Farmers Weekly reports.
At the top of the agenda will be a discussion about how the animal feed industry can work together with the biofuel sector, incorporating by-products into feed and ensuring that any increase in crop production is not to the detriment of the environment.
"Sustainable profitability must be our byword and we continue to explore ways in which new technology, the innovative use of new raw materials and adding value to conventional agricultural products can reduce the impact of agriculture on the environment," said Alltech UK regional director Ian Leach.
In the UK, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee has called for the government to establish a unified British position on agricultural policy.
Typical Guttridge equipment used in the animal feed industry includes:
Conveyors – screw conveyors – chain conveyors – belt conveyors
