mocrat councillors in Brentwood have signalled their opposition to plans that will see the local authority collaborate with Basildon and Castle Point Council over waste management.
Speaking to the Romford Recorder, councillor David Kendall expressed the Liberal Democrat's opposition to any link-up.
He also accused the ruling Conservative group of avoiding the issue in the week before the local elections.
"The Liberal Democrat group which I lead are strongly opposed to any link with Basildon and will fight to maintain Brentwood’s independence. I think they are deliberately trying to keep quiet on the issue until after the election," he told the newspaper.
Earlier this month, the Exeter Express and Echo revealed that Exeter City Council has boosted its profits by concentrating on improving recycling rates.
The local authority made £1.42 million from recycling, with a significant proportion processed by private sector firms.
Typical Guttridge equipment used in the waste recycling industry includes: Elevators – bucket elevators – valves
