Residents in Conwy are set to benefit from a new food waste recycling drive from the local council.
According to North Wales Weekly News, Conwy County Council is rolling out its food waste collection service across the region, even to the most rural residents.
The scheme is part of the local authority's drive to reach a zero waste target, it is claimed.
Andrew Wilkinson, waste manager for Conwy, said that food is one of the worst things to send to landfill as it produces methane as it rots.
He told the publication: "The new recycling banks in Dolwyddelan have proved a great success.
"Now we're helping residents recycle even more by introducing a weekly food waste collection service to go with their fortnightly refuse collections."
Edinburgh City Council recently confirmed that it will be running a trial of weekly food waste collection in certain areas of the city.
