Cider manufacturers are pushing to make the brewing industry more sustainable, it has been claimed.
According to Henry Chevallier, chair of the National Association of Cider Makers, the group's members are looking to apply the same principles that govern management and maintenance of their orchards to every aspect of the manufacturing process.
Eat Out magazine reports Mr Chevallier as telling a House of Commons reception that every investment decision has to provide growth over decades.
"That is why we take every opportunity to press you [the government] for stability and continuity in terms of the regulatory framework, in the duty regime, and on issues like our input costs," he concluded.
Moorhouse's Brewery managing director David Grant recently accused the government of "turning its back" on the drinks industry.
He said that the increase in beer duty in the latest Budget announcement could be "ruinous" for the sector, putting jobs and livelihoods at risk.
Typical Guttridge equipment used in the brewing industry includes:
Conveyors – screw conveyors – chain conveyors – belt conveyors
