Animal feed experts from across the globe are gathering in the US to discuss the latest developments in the industry.
The 2011 27th Annual Alltech International Animal Health and Nutrition Symposium in Kentucky will focus on how profitability and output for animal feed manufacturers can be increased, Famers Weekly reports.
However, with crops supplies dwindling and an increasing focus on the impact of the industry on the environment, experts will also have sustainability at the heart of their discussions.
"Sustainable profitability must be our byword and we continue to explore ways in which new technology, the innovative use of new raw materials and adding value to conventional agricultural products can reduce the impact of agriculture on the environment," Ian Leach, regional director of Alltech UK, told the news provider.
Conservative MP Dr Therese Coffey recently warned that the drought conditions across the country will have a major impact on cereals production, meaning less available ingredients for animal feed manufacturers.
