Firms in the anaerobic digestion sector will welcome the government's latest conclusions about energy regulator Ofgem, it is suggested.
The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has recognised that more clarity is needed between the role of government is setting policy and Ofgem in implementing it.
This includes pushing a green agenda through promotion of renewable energies.
Reacting to the report, the Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association (Abda) chief executive Charlotte Morton said the clarification on Ofgem's role is good news for the sector.
"We are also pleased that DECC has recognised that Ofgem's 'broadly scoped duties and weak guidance' are insufficient for the forthcoming changes in energy markets – and that government will 'communicate more clearly its policy goals'," she added.
Abda recently expressed its belief that biodegradable packing is going to become a key component of the food manufacturing industry in the near future.
