The government's soon-to-be-published Waste Review is likely to include stronger support for waste recycling and handling services for small businesses, a policy expert believes.
Speaking at the Sustainabilitylive! Show in Birmingham earlier this week, environmental consultancy Valpak's director of policy Adrian Hawkes said the review may bring in the potential to combine business waste with household waste, Edie.net reports.
"I do think there may be incentives to move towards more consistent recycling services, especially while away from home," he said at a seminar.
However, he went on to say that he did not believe the Waste Review will contain any new obligations for producer responsibility for waste, although he thinks fresh recycling targets for packaging will be set after 2012.
Running between May 24th and the 26th at Birmingham's NEC, Sustainabilitylive! this year for the first time featured 400 bins around the show allowing waste and recyclable materials to be separated.
Typical Guttridge equipment used in the waste recycling industry includes: Elevators – bucket elevators – valves
